How to Program NFC Tags on iPhone?

If you’re new to NFC technology, this guide will help you easily program your social media links, business websites, or other information onto NFC Cards, NFC tags and NFC stickers.

Step 1: Ensure NFC Functionality on Your iPhone

  • NFC Availability: If you have an iPhone XS or above version, the NFC function is automatically enabled. (Note: Android users may need to manually enable NFC in their device settings.)
  • NFC Location: The NFC module on iPhones is typically located on the back, near the top edge.

Step 2: Verify NFC Tag Compatibility

  • NDEF Format: Make sure your NFC tags are in NDEF format, the popular chips include NTAG213, NTAG215, NTAG216, compatible NTAG chips and more.

How to Program Your NFC Tag:

  1. Download an App: Install either the NXP TagWriter or NFC Tools app on your iPhone.
  2. Check Tag Functionality: Use the app to read your NFC card, ensuring it’s functioning correctly.
  3. Select a Programming Option: In the app, choose the “Write” option to see available programming types (e.g., link, wifi, text).
  4. Add Your URL: Select the “Link” option and enter your desired URL.
  5. Write to the Tag: Tap your NFC tag with the iPhone to write the data.
  6. Verify the Program: Tap the NFC tag again to confirm the data has been successfully written.
